LIMP BIZKIT's DURST Compares New Album To JANE'S ADDICTION And PANTERA
LIMP BIZKIT frontman Fred Durst tells Rolling Stone magazine that the feel of the group's forthcoming album is comparable to that of JANE'S ADDICTION's "Nothing's Shocking" and PANTERA's "Vulgar Display of Power": "[The new songs are] aggressive and rebellious and sad and slightly hopeful." The same description does not apply to the album's title: "I'm either going to call it 'Panty Sniffer' or 'The Incredible Shrinking Panty Sniffer'," says Durst, who has changed the name several times. "I just think there's something fun about it, but it's kind of heavy. Like, I could see that on a T-shirt: 'Panty Sniffer.' "
As previously reported, LIMP BIZKIT's long-awaited new album seemed ready for release in May, but after BIZKIT finally named Mike Smith (ex-SNOT) as the replacement for guitarist Wes Borland, the group scrapped the finished tracks and began working on new material.
The original plan called for the album to be released in time for the July 4 kickoff of the Summer Sanitarium tour, which features LIMP BIZKIT alongside METALLICA, LINKIN PARK, DEFTONES and MUDVAYNE. Durst now insists an as-yet-unnamed single will be issued beforehand.
