STONE TEMPLE PILOTS/VELVET REVOLVER singer Scott Weiland called into "The Cane Show" on K-Rock on Wednesday (June 16) and commented on several topics, including the future of STP, his plans with VELVET REVOLVER and his personal life.
The following are some of the highlights of the conversation:
On STONE TEMPLE PILOTS' current status and his plans with VELVET REVOLVER:
Scott Weiland: "We [STP] haven't broken up. We're taking a long, extended hiatus right now. We are gonna be putting out a 'Greatest Hits' album. I'm committed to [VELVET REVOLVER], and we are gonna make a record, and we are gonna tour, and we're gonna do everything we can do to conquer the world of rock 'n' roll and hopefully change the pace and change the setting of what is being played on the radio right now, and our goal is to make the best rock 'n' roll album in the last 10 years."
On playing with VELVET REVOLVER:
Scott Weiland: "Slash is possibly the best lead guitar player that I've ever played with — overall, as the lead guitar player. The band, as a whole, is amazing — I mean, they've been playing together for so long. Dave Kushner is an amazing guitar player. He sort of brings a fifth element to the band."
On his personal life:
Scott Weiland: "I'm great right now. I hit a few speed bumps. Going through a divorce set me back — [I] started getting involved in pain medication, and for a brief period of time there, I sort of slid backwards. So you know, at the time it seemed like it was a negative thing that happened to me but maybe it was probably the best thing that happened to me, 'cause now I'm back on track. And the thing is with everyone in this band, with VELVET REVOLVER, everyone in the band has suffered the same experiences and has made it to the other side, so everyone has lived that life before."

In related news, Scott posted the following message to the official VELVET REVOLVER web site:
"I guess I'm signing on to introduce myself. Introduce myself to those new VELVET REVOLVER fans who don't know me. As well as GUNS 'N ROSES fans who don't know me as flesh and blood. I myself am a G'NR fan since 'Appetite For Destruction' pretty much saved rock 'n roll for me, along with JANE'S ADDICTION, the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, THELONIUS MONSTER and NIRVANA.
"As well as introducing myself, I would love the opportunity to put my arms around the bodies of our lovely STP fans, and say that I hope with all my heart and am quite confident that you will fall in love with the rock 'n roll of VELVET REVOLVER. It's been a very positive, passionate experience.
"Sobriety is unanimous without losing any of the rock 'n roll — punk rock — glammed out edge. I don't know what we will evolve into, but some kind of amalgamation of a rock 'n' roll creature! Maybe it wasn't just fate that the Hulk Set Us Free.........
"Lots of wet kisses, Scott Weiland
"P.S. I WOULD LOVE TO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO TELL MY SON AND DAUGHTER NOAH AND LUCY HOW MUCH I LOVE THEM SUNDAY JUNE 15, FATHER'S DAY."
