As part of its ongoing 35th-birthday celebrations, Utopia Records had the Richmond, Virginia crossover act MUNICIPAL WASTE in the Sydney, Australia store for a meet-and-greet and signing and interview session on June 16 from 2 p.m. before the band laid waste to the HiFi later that night. Check out video footage below.
MUNICIPAL WASTE supported ANTHRAX on the third annual Metal Alliance Tour, which kicked off in March and ran through the month of April.
MUNICIPAL WASTE's fifth album, "The Fatal Feast", sold around 2,700 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at No. 3 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200. The band's previous effort, "Massive Aggressive", opened with around 2,100 copies back in September 2009 to debut at No. 10 on the Heatseekers chart.
"The Fatal Feast" was released on April 10, 2011 in North America and April 13, 2011 in Europe via Nuclear Blast Records. The cover artwork for the CD was created by Justin Osbourn of Slasher Design and can be seen below.
"The Fatal Feast" features guest appearances by John Connelly (guitarist and vocalist for NUCLEAR ASSAULT), Steve Moore (who plays bass and synthesizers for ZOMBI), and vocalist Tim Barry (ex-AVAIL).
